As a Florida native, spending time at the beach swimming and soaking up the sun with his wife is one of Dr. Oakley's favorite things to do. Dr. Oakley was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the young age of 2 and has pursued exercise throughout his life to remain healthy. He currently participates in triathlons and a variety of running distance races. Dr. Oakley has personal experience in managing his diabetes as well as many sports related pedal injuries and provides a personal approach to his patient care.
